An ancient Wallawwa (Residence) situated in the Northwestern province (Pothuhara, Kurunagala) around 90 Km away from Colombo, and 1 Km away from the main town, Pothuhara. It is 70 Km from the Dambulla Stadium and 50 Km away from the Hill Capital, Kandy, where the "Tooth Relic" of Lord Buddha is kept.

History
The Wallawwa (Residence), which is located at a walking distance from the ancient Rock Temple, has a history of more than 150 years. It is solidly built with high quality timber, thus giving it an antique value of its own. The Wallawwa is equipped with all the modern facilities such as water and electricity.


This Wallawwa was built and owned by a prominent figure in the area and was passed down for generations. An ancient "Dandukanda" which was used by the chief to punish those found guilty of crime in the 18th and 19th centuries is one of the most significant entities of the Wallawwa. Furthermore, in the front garden of the Wallawwa lies a Military safe from World War 2, which is a rare piece of art.



Description
The Wallawwa comprises of 5 large rooms with 3 bedrooms opening out to a long Verandah. The other two rooms are on the left wing on the residence. One of the rooms is located on the second floor, with a balcony & windows on all 4 sides thereby allowing a magnificent view of the surroundings. The staircase leading to this room is made out of high quality timber, which is strong as concrete.


A Split-level TV room, which also can be converted into a bedroom opens up to the open verandah, which in turn leads to the front garden. The other side of this room is open to the indoor garden and a long circular verandah.


The dining room, which could seat more than 24, leads to a Medamidulla (indoor Garden), adjoining the pantry and kitchen area. This section is surrounded by a large circular sitting area equipped with a cement seat along one side of the wall, which has a seating capacity of 30-40. It also has a storeroom. Large pillars and the above-mentioned seating area surround the indoor garden.


The entire estate has a land capacity of 517 perches and has numerous native trees, including King Coconut, Mango, Coconut, Jumbu (Rose Apple), Jack, Mahogany to name a few. It also has many Nadun trees, which are very valuable.
